Historic Virginia LAND CONSERVANCY HISTORIC VIRGINIA LAND CONSERVANCY EARNS NATIONAL RECOGNITION Williamsburg, Virginia (Nov 12, 2020)-One thing that unites us as a nation is land: Americans strongly support saving the open spaces they love. Since 1990, the Historic Virginia Land Conservancy has been protecting cherished open spaces in our region. We are thrilled to announce the renewal of our land trust accreditation, demonstrating once again that, as part of a network of over 400 accredited land trusts across the nation, we are committed to professional excellence and to maintaining the public's trust in our conservation work. This accreditation by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission was first granted in 2015 and will now be extended through 2025. "We are a stronger organization than ever for having gone through the rigorous accreditation renewal process," says HVLC Executive Director Patrice Sadler. "Our strength means that special places - such as Mainland Farm, Church on the Main, York River Preserve, and many family farms - will be protected forever, making our cities and counties an even greater place for us and our children." "It is exciting to recognize HVLC's continued commitment to national standards by renewing this national mark of distinction," said Melissa Kalvestrand, Executive Director of the Commission. "Donors and partners can trust that the more than 400 accredited land trusts across the country are united behind strong standards and have demonstrated sound finances, ethical conduct, responsible governance, and lasting stewardship." HVLC is one of 1,363 land trusts across the United States according to the Land Trust Alliance's most recent National Land Trust Census.
